I have a diverse background in education, continuous training, volunteerism, and research. For the past 15 years my primary focus and devotion has been to the Disabled American Veterans Organization as a hands-on member. For approximately 9 years, I have served as a DAV Service Officer, working with veterans on many aspects of services and assistance.I am a Navy Veteran and served on board the USS Puget Sound AD-38 stationed in Gaeta, Italy from 1983 to 1985 as part of the Sixth Fleet Multinational Peacekeeping Force. Then I went to Dental Assistant "A" School in San Diego, California. After that, I was off to Charleston Naval Base in Charleston, South Carolina where I worked as a Navy Dental Assistant until I was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1989.I devoted myself to reinventing my life as a mother to my then 1 year-old son, who is now 26 years old. He has been a joy and an exceptional challenge. And now he is an exceptional young man. He graduated from Winston-Salem State University and now he working a job and being a good citizen, in addition he has decided to try his skill as a Certified Travel Agent. I will become one of his loyal customers.Busy as always just like his mom.I am firmly committed to encouraging not only veterans but any individual I encounter, who cares to know my opinion, that one success or failure or many successes or failures do not define where you should see yourself in the next moment. Live and Learn and continue Learning. Then when it is the season for one to retire into thinking over the journey he or she has traveled, pass the WEALTH of WISDOM to the one who will succeed you.
