About Phyllis Meyer
Once my kids went off to college, I enrolled in the adventure of veterinary technology - halter-training goats, holding parrots for beak trimming, helping spay and neuter cats and dogs - and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2011.While working in veterinary clinics, I found that cats were not always handled with understanding and compassion - indeed, they are armed with claws and teeth and can be terrifying when they are frightened and resist handling. My journey in feline behavior as a professional began with the goal of stress-free handling and led me to spend two years studying feline behavior under some of the world’s leading cat behavior experts. I was awarded the ISFM Advanced Certificate in Feline Behavior with distinction in 2020.Upon completion of my behavior certificate, I started The Feline Purrspective, a blog and online resource to share with cat guardians what I have learned as a veterinary professional and lifelong cat owner.

CatTails is an exclusively feline practice. I practice low stress handling and restraint for our feline patients. I am also responsible for patient history intake, sample collection, and therapeutic treatments. The hospital does feline dental treatments which include full mouth dental radiographs and dental prophylaxis once the patient has been catheterized, anesthetized, and intubated - I have become quite proficient cleaning and radiograph ing feline teeth!
