About Pia Abercromby
I believe we have a responsibility to be accountable for our actions and to protect our world. Bringing this passion for sustainability to my work life, I leverage my diverse industry experience and engineering background to implement sustainable solutions in the real world. With a proven track record in consulting, project management, and the design of small through to large sustainability initiatives and infrastructure projects in Canada and New Zealand, I thrive in multidisciplinary, multicultural environments. Improving environmental, social and economic impacts is a key motivator for me. I am excited to show people that it is possible to create in a sustainable manner. Not every leader needs to be the same as what we have seen in history – our unique strengths should help us to shine. Personally, I aim to add diversity to teams by leading in a collaborative manner to encourage innovation. My ability to communicate with different types of people when I am leading teams helps me to stand out. Once, when asked, “What drives your ambition?” my response was, “I have a genuine interest in people and helping them to develop and succeed. My drive is just a result of my instinct to make that happen.” This instinct has helped me to build a strong network of peers, clients, and those in the wider industry, and I grow by listening to and learning from those around me. I am committed to driving meaningful change in our world and helping others see that it is possible to create, sustainably. I believe in leadership that celebrates diversity, leading with empathy, and fostering collaboration to achieve results.
