About Matthew M. Picchietti

I started working at Omaha Eye and Laser Institute in 2019. As a technician, I work up patients for a variety of vision and eye ailments. We evaluate for cataracts, glaucoma, LASIK possibilities, keratoconus, retinal detachments, and much more. In 2020, I earned laser certifications and have been working with the LASIK surgery team, in addition to other technician duties.In 2016, I moved from Chicago to Omaha and resumed my teaching career. For three years, I taught AP English, American Literature, Creative Writing, Credit Recovery and Poetry Studies classes at Omaha Bryan High School. Additionally, I coached football and wrestling. Prior to my return to teaching, I was in sales. I managed accounts for customers in the Midwest. Products offered by Library Ideas, LLC include: music, movies, eBooks, and language learning platforms. Prior to Library Ideas, I sold marketing and advertising products for Hibu. As a sales rep for Hibu, I sold customer-specific advertising and marketing packages to help local businesses get more exposure. My clients included dentists, roofers, real estate experts, franchised branches of national chains, auto dealers, and more. Additionally, I wrote several articles for a local publication that has a distribution into the tens of thousands. These articles helped increase traffic for the businesses they highlighted.Prior to advertising, I spent eleven years in public and private education in Illinois. I taught high school English and coached football and wrestling. My experience includes schools with fewer than 900 students and to those with more than 6500 students. I taught all levels and all classes including: literature classes, writing classes, speech / communication classes, and journalism classes. Additionally, I worked in standardized test preparation, college application essay writing, and resume writing. At different points in my teaching career, I served as a head coach in both football and wrestling.While I no longer teach, I still help students and former students when / if they ask and I hope to get back to coaching in the future.I continue to write for fun, read extensively, and help friends (and their kids) edit college and scholarship essays and resumes.
