Sarah is a mission-driven leader and communications specialist with more than 25 years’ experience, 10 spanning the Northern and Southern hemispheres directing proactive and reactive media work, resulting in international coverage in The Washington Post, Al Jazeera, CNN, BBC, Times of India and more.Prior to joining the Brooks McCormick Jr. Animal Law & Policy Program at Harvard Law School, Sarah worked and consulted for several animal protection and environmental organizations in the US, UK, and internationally. She also has been Head of Communications for a human rights organization focused on advancing equality worldwide, and designed global programs and projects for an environmental foundation that holds consultative status with the UN. As International Program Director, she oversaw managers in 60+ countries, managed stakeholder relations and led on strategic communications.Sarah was Communications Director for Copenhagen Climate Council for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15), World Climate Solutions and the World Business Summit on Climate Change. She also was Senior International Media Manager for World Animal Protection. In addition to promoting international campaigns, for example, 'Handle with Care', to end the long-distance transport of animals, Sarah was a disaster relief team media lead deployed to Pakistan after the earthquake in 2005 and Bangladesh after cyclone Sidr in 2007, among other countries.In addition to framing, launching and managing international campaigns, programs, and projects, including in complex coalitions, Sarah has been a spokesperson, media trainer, and educator. She is also an experienced brand, crisis, reputation, event, relationship (corporations, major donors, celebrities, ambassadors, VIPs, etc.) and people manager. She began her career as a national newspaper reporter in the UK, following postgraduate study in journalism.In addition to overseeing communications for the Animal Law & Policy Program and Animal Law & Policy Clinic at Harvard Law School, Sarah provides communications support to the Program on Law & Society in the Muslim World. She also has served on the board of Animal Charity Evaluators and regularly provides mentorship and pro-bono support to others in the animal protection movement and other fields.
