I am a hard worker, but more importantly: I am a smart worker. I hold myself and any work that I do to a high standard because anything less is a waste of time and energy. I am a quick learner; this is assisted by the fact love learning and am always trying to improve myself. I am an analytical thinker and problem solver. Ultimately, I want to work on something that is greater than myself and will have a meaningful, net positive impact on Earth and all of its inhabitants. I enjoy being around and working with others, however I am capable of working alone whenever necessary.I have experience conducting research and publishing/communicating findings; creating, running, validating, and analyzing physis-based simulations; developing software for mechanical control components and sensors; more teaching experience than I thought I would have at this point in my career.Regarding why I am currently working as a coffee roaster - after I obtained my MS in Aerospace Engineering, I simply wanted to experience something different. I developed a love for coffee during college and sought to become proficient and knowledgable in it. Along the way, I was offered the unique opportunity to learn how to roast and take on the responsibility of being "Roasting and Production Supervisor" for all the Ithaka outlets that serve coffee. Like with most things, and coffee is no exception, the more one learns about and experiences something, the more one becomes aware of and develops the ability to appreciate the vast complexities, intricacies, and wonders that are hidden underneath.I do not plan to stay in coffee forever. My long-term goal is joining the space industry, whether NASA or private. I believe my skills and desires align well with a Space Operations or Mission-Control type role. I also remain interested in the fields of Planetary Science, Exoplanets, and Astrobiology.Lastly - regarding any potential concern about my being out of an academia, research, or space technology/science related field for a short period of time: One does not simply forget all the skills and tools they spent years developing. Like riding a bike or tieing a shoe, those skills and knowldge remain compartmentalized and ready to be re-engaged when needed. If I was able to learn such skills and knowldge once before with no prior experience (i.e. learning it for the first time successfully), I undoubtably retain the ability of recalling and refining them moving forwards.
