I harness my passion and skills to expand the digital footprint of the “Y's” mission. I have a strong background in photography, videography, writing, and a general passion for technology. My passion within these areas is something that grew out of interest in my free time. When the Corona Virus pandemic began, and it was clear that other YMCAs around the country were closing the doors and hoping for the best, I started talking to our leadership about how we can use technology to keep members… Show more I harness my passion and skills to expand the digital footprint of the “Y's” mission. I have a strong background in photography, videography, writing, and a general passion for technology. My passion within these areas is something that grew out of interest in my free time. When the Corona Virus pandemic began, and it was clear that other YMCAs around the country were closing the doors and hoping for the best, I started talking to our leadership about how we can use technology to keep members engaged. Within a day’s notice, we created a strategy to use one of our facilities to create a live stream studio that would provide our members with regularly scheduled group exercise classes from instructors they were comfortable with and trusted. Once we established the digital exercise program, we were able to help other YMCA associations near ours to create their own live stream programs for their members. This allowed us to retain our members and keep instructors employed until the local restrictions began to subside. Show less

Throughout any given year, we host around 16 different local, state-wide, and national programs. All our programs are either student-run mock government programs or character development programs. The Conference on National Affairs and Alabama Youth in Government programs are designed to create a space where students can openly discuss timely and sensitive topics they are passionate about. We teach our students the operations and functions of government agencies, branches, and programs. Our programs are broadly multicultural, multiracial, and multifaith. We strive for our programs to focus on equity of opportunity while minimizing the barriers that society has told our students exists. Show less
