About Pierre-Marc Perreault

As Director of the Digital Citizen Initiative at Canadian Heritage, I play a key role in the design and implementation of a variety of initiatives in the space of digital governance. I lead the government's efforts to create and implement new legislation to promote online safety and combat child sexual exploitation content, terrorist and violent extremist content, cyberbullying, hate speech and other serious forms of harmful content online. I also lead Heritage’s efforts to address mis- and disinformation by building the resilience of Canadians and oversee a program that funds research and civil society projects. Among my many awards, I was awarded the Deputy Minister’s People Management Award of Excellence at Canadian Heritage. I was also the recipient of other Deputy Ministers' Awards of Excellence at Canadian Heritage for my work as part of the team that led the broadcasting part of the NAFTA/CUSMA renegotiation file as well as for the work of my directorate under the COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund project. I am also Canadian Heritage’s Departmental Champion for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and strive to raise awareness and promote diversity within the workplace.
