Pierre Simard is President and Managing Member of Champlain Financial Corporation (Canada), and is a co-founder and Managing Director of Champlain Capital Management LLC in the U.S. Champlain Capital Management is a leading boutique advisory and merchant banking firm with offices in San Francisco and Boston, and is affiliated with Champlain Capital Partners LP, a private equity fund with over US$140 million under management focusing on growth capital for small and medium sized companies. Mr. Simard recently founded Champlain Financial Corporation, based in Montreal, to build Champlain’s Canadian franchise. Prior to co-founding Champlain Capital Management and founding Champlain Financial Corporation, Mr. Simard spent over ten years working in investment banking and commercial banking with Lazard Frères & Co., Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, and CIBC, where he originated, structured and executed more than 40 advisory assignments including high yield and equity financings, management buyouts, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Simard currently sits on the Board of Directors of Genivar Income Fund (TSX: GNV-UN), Orthofab Inc. and Dismed Inc.Mr. Simard received a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Laval University, a Graduate Degree in Management from the Université Catholique de Louvain, and an M.B.A. from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He currently lives in Westmount, Quebec with his wife Nancy and their 4 children.
