Pierre-Alain Clément is research fellow at the Ministry of Interior Higher Studies Institute (IHEMI), charged with the “Terrorism and Violent Radicalisation” issues since 2021.He holds a PhD in political science from the University of Quebec in Montreal (2017). His research deals with political violence, particularly jihadism and counterterrorism in France, and the geopolitics of the US and Middle East. He also works on popular culture (music, video games).Before this position, he developed the links between the National Institute for Higher Studies on Security and Justice (INHESJ) and the academia (universities, research centres), along with furthering research on American and French counterterrorist policies (2018-2020).Pierre-Alain Clément is also associate fellow of the Quebec Centre for Geopolitics Studies (CQEG, Laval University and University of Quebec in Montreal), as well as editor-in-chief of its journal “Regards géopolitiques” (“Geopolitical Outlooks”). He is a member of the International Panel on Exiting Violence (IPEV, Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme), of the Research and Action on Social Polarizations team (SHERPA-RAPS) and the Association for War and Strategy Studies (AÉGES).
