12 years worth of intense, under pressure on site(Surface & Underground large scale construction projects) multi disciplined EPCM/SMPP experience has enabled my planning problem solving, risk analysis and/or mitigation skills to be an asset to any project/company. Mentioned in my CV at each project, the difference I made was significant enough to be included. I was involved at senior and ground level taking the lead and/or advised on delay analysis.Mitigation suggestions with practical measurable execution activities has always been the the key to lowering the critical risk's.This was to test and verify the schedule's logic and WBS structure to ascertain possible improvements. Gap analysis with risk identification methods are indispensable as a first action to budgets and pull back or hold forecast dates more consistently with proven finish milestones.Thereafter accurate and constant progress monitoring weighted to ensure accurate % complete feeds through to the schedule each week to enable confidence in the forecast finish date.Over my career I have noteworthy achievements at each of projects I was involved with below.

These measures and planning a full year in advance was a major success as critical risks were identified early enough to be mitigated into an almost flawless commissioning phase of the 1st Boiler at Kusile. The “Boiler Blow through” milestone was achieved on 24 November 2016 (4 days earlier than forecasted in Jan 2016). A Milestone that did not slip as a direct result of the controls implemented in late 2015, early 2016 by me and executed without a hitch by the Eskom Engineering team. I consider this to be the highlight of my career to that point and I was proud to have had a key role to play in achieving a critical milestone in a project & country that needed it desperately at that time.Mid 2017 I was appointed to assess the Civil main contractor’s extension of time claim to the value of +- R 1,1 Billion and counter argued with cross referencing their own submitted schedules the previous 5 years where baseline durations were tampered with. The extension of time claim was speedily re-evaluated and submitted to the agreed sum of R 850 Million with corresponding finish date corrected(Pulled back to what it should have been) without any disputes.. I established that man hours were being wasted due to QCP hold points and resources waiting around to continue or move from one area to another specifically regarding the welding of pins(to hold the insulation) and Flat bar/Angle Iron to fix the Sheet Metal to.They welded pins & Flat bar waited for QC hold point and moving welder to another area where after they came back to weld final angle iron and await another QC hold point inspection. I immediately stopped that and instructed all welding to be done at once and moved QC hold point to after that.In effect it meant that they wasted 1 day on a hold point, a day on welder being moved both ways.Efficiencies picked up straight away and delays were a thing of the past and started to catch up. Was involved with Medupi Power Station’s Boiler 1 First Fire pressure milestone as Insulation on the Burners were one of the last activities before they start commissioning. Show less -
Senior Project PlannerWetback Contracts Feb 2013 - Apr 2014Sasol Plant, Scc Plant, Secunda, Mpumalanga, RsaI won an extension of time claim of 4 months (+-R50 million value) after a to and fro argument with the SASOL planner. The extension of time claim revolved around activity sequencing that linked “pipe welding” and “pipe prep” for the next seam in parallel. This would not have been a problem but the NDT x-ray tests were failing due to porosity within the weld. It was clear that prepping the next seam while the weld was executed caused air pushing impurities towards the argon weld.A meeting… Show more I won an extension of time claim of 4 months (+-R50 million value) after a to and fro argument with the SASOL planner. This would not have been a problem but the NDT x-ray tests were failing due to porosity within the weld. It was clear that prepping the next seam while the weld was executed caused air pushing impurities towards the argon weld.A meeting was arranged with the SASOL’s lead Mechanical Engineer to present this fact after consensus could not be reached regarding extension claim. 10 min into the presentation by myself, I was stopped by the Engineer and he agreed where after he instructed their planner to grant the claim in full. This was all thanks to pro-active engagement with the different disciplines about actual installation sequence and the pattern quickly came to light. 85% of all failed welds passed the second time around when the “pipe prep” resources were finished and not busy grinding down the pipe line. I developed the schedule with sound KPI norms and the fail rates were 5x the norm. Show less -
