As a kid, I loved playing around with computers. From the first time I touched a Commodore64, I knew these things would become my life. I knew I wanted to be a software engineer even before getting out of high school. Starting off playing video games on 5-inch floppies would eventually lead to creating scripts for MS-DOS and building websites for a living. During my study I discovered that my passion wasn’t solely on developing amazing software. I got drawn into the business side things and that’s where my entrepreneurial feelings kicked in. During my study at the Fontys University of Applied Science in Eindhoven I studied Software Engineering and specialized as a Technical Commercial Engineer. I started my career after graduation at small startup, where I also worked during my internship. Together with two others, we grew the company to 10 people, with me leading the development team. After 3 years the entrepreneurial feelings I always had, led to start my own Internet Marketing Company together with my sister. A really awesome period where we helped dozens of companies with their websites, social media and overall marketing strategies. During those years I really got interested in Conversion Rate Optimization and worked together with some of the world’s greatest specialist on this topic. Startups have always fascinated me, especially after reading The Lean Startup by Eric Reis. This way of creating companies, where you validate your ideas in really short cycles and try to get to product-market fit really sparked an interest. So, when Kees from Omniboost reached out to join, it was a no-brainer. Since then, it has been one hell of ride, growing from couple of integration to a 1000+ in more than 38 countries worldwide. It’s really feels good to be able to help hotels and restaurants with our ETL software. As CTO I’m responsible for the technical side of things and I love the way we can innovate and improve the way we create our integrations on a daily basis. Doing all of this with a relatively small team makes me really proud. Most of the times it’s chaotic, but from this chaos comes creativity and innovation. Yes, work is hard, but that makes you play hard as well. When I’m not busy with Omniboost I really enjoy being with my two kids, running, playing tennis or picking up a new hobby, like kitesurfing. Oh, and if there is some time left, I do really enjoy a good BBQ!
