The Netherlands is co-host of the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York this March. I am part of the team that organizes the conference. Our mission: 'We have to understand, value and manage water better.'Taskforces I am part of:Finance for water Finance is a key theme at the conference. This taskforce makes sure the right bottlenecks are adressed, key commitments are identified and the right stakeholders are engaged to make these commitments. Private Sector The private sector is an enabler for transformational change in the way we deal with and handle our water. This taskforce engages with different private sector networks and (valuing) water initiatives that will bring bold commitments to the conference.As private sector liaison I am engaging with different corporates, networks, start-ups and NGOs to have bold and concrete commitments to the Water Action Agenda.

Jelmer is an expert in talent development through its unique 3 year multi-company development programme in the water, infrastructure, energy and urban planning sectors.As a business developer I was responsible for account management of our business partners. I was strongly involved in establishing a new strategy and was responsible for the development of new programmes and the growth of the company.

I developed a strategy for Vitens Evides International, a collaboration of Dutch water utilities, how to transition from intermittent to continuous water supply by utilizing a demand driven approach. In this research I developed and tested a methodology for the case of Accra Ghana, GWCL. At Ghana Water Company Limited I designed and set up DMAs and did field measurements into leakages.

Developing a traveling Water Exposition for the MENA region on the past, present and future that will be featured at EXPO 2020 amongst others.

Als water ambassadeur voor de Topsector Water en Maritiem verbinding gelegd met de jonge generatie om die te interesseren voor alle water gerelateerde uitdagingen die we in ons land hebben. Tijdens Wereld Waterdag 2018 in Madurodam een evenement georganiseerd in samenwerking met Gemeente Den Haag, Rijkswaterstaat, Volvo Ocean Race en Dutch Wave Makers voor middelbare scholieren. Zij werden op een interactieve manier meegenomen in de wondere wereld van water. Verder het voorbereiden en verzorgen van gastlessen en proefjes doen op evenementen, zoals tijdens de Nationale Waterdag 2018, ter herinnering van de watersnoodsramp van 1953 met o.a. Henk Ovink.Meegeholpen met het opzetten van een nieuw talentprogramma: "De Stroomversnellers".

For Royal Haskoning-DHV and VEI I analysed the bottlenecks in regards to financing large scale drinking water projects. Measures were taken to navigate them. Final result was a template to scope projects with all the relevant inputs from both finance, NGOs and engineering firms.

This funding was made available by student and alumni donors.Served as chairman of the Students4Sustainability board. I was responsible for co-creating the vision and subsequent strategy. Including the translation to goals and evaluation.To develop our project pipeline I developed 5 sustainable water projects in Kisumu Kenya.I also served as contact person for external stakeholders like companies, NGOs, professors and student organizations.
