I was the founder and managing director of Terra Drone Europe (previously known as Skeye) , a drone service providing company specialised in survey and inspections and one of Europe’s leading drone-based survey companies. I am also one of the founding fathers and former chairman of the Dutch trade organisation for certified drone operators (DCRO) and sat on the working and expert groups helping the Dutch Civil Aviation Authorities with the implementation of new EU drone regulations (SORA’s and development of Standard Scenarios). I started my career 30 years ago as a hydrographic surveyor and sonar engineer as my degree in marine radio communication was rendered obsolete by the invention of satellite telephone. After 10 years of working offshore as a hydrographic surveyor I made the transition to land and aerial surveying with a post graduate degree in GIS. Two more post graduate degrees in IT strategy and Business Administration ensured a transition to commercial and managerial roles. Prior to starting the drone company Skeye (now Terra Drone Europe) in 2012, I was the general manager of the aerial survey company Aeroprecisa in Nigeria. Prior to this I was the Sales Director of the aerial survey company Vision in Dubai, product manager aerial imagery at CycloMedia and sales manager airborne LiDAR at Fugro in the Netherlands.Recently I started the Drone Survey School to train non surveyors in the use of drone survey techniques.
