“In my last year of high school I played in the national baseball youth team ánd scored fifth place in the national geography championships. The balance of brain and body, of head and gut, is what I stand for. A aesthetically pleasing design should be cleverly engineered and a technological solution should read like poetry.”From 2004 to 2017 I worked for G-Star RAW, where I grew into the role of Creative Director 3D Design & Development, being in the lead for defining the brands’ identity in the 3D environment: Concepts and output of +250 stores, +500 Shop-in-Shops, +30.000m2 office space, + 10.000m2 trade fair pavilions and multiple Raw Crossover projects, always in the G-Star tradition of doing a total design including architecture, furniture design and material development.During this period I’ve worked together with a.o. OMA / Rem Koolhaas, Marc Newson, Pharrell Williams, Aitor Troup, BMW, Vitra, Selfridges and the Stedelijk Museum AmsterdamFrom 2012 to 2014 I set up the G-Star online design team, with the focus on translating the G-Star 3D design philosophy into the virtual world. The current G-Star.com is the result of this work.In October 2017 I decided to live my dream and run my own studio, working at the crossroads of interior, brand development and architecture. “To first find out who you are, and then translate this identity into physical and digital space; this is what I do. I understand that todays’ world asks for a new approach to design: in a world of blending channels, intelligent and demanding users and an accelerated rate of change, interior design as a fixed and final solution, is not enough anymore. My focus is on designing human centered, adaptive systems for spaces of any kind, that allow for change and evolution.”I’m an energetic speaker and motivator, mixing passion with an analytical approach in my fields of work.
