Measured liquid species through mass spectrometry, EPR, Raman and UV absorption spectroscopy. Wrote protocols and grants (awarded 1 as PI). Managed lab safety and supplies. Mentored 5 graduate and undergraduate students in development of plasma sources and measurement of chemical species using EPR, mass spectrometry, and visible – mid IR absorption spectroscopy.Lead a 10 PI team for a Game-changing Research Incentive Program (GRIP) proposal for a month in lieu of my mentor by organizing meetings and preparation for a Q&A with industry and non-profit organizations. Lead teams of postdocs to develop proposals aimed at changing university-wide postdoc policies regarding visas and benefits as chair of the Postdoctoral Advocacy Committee.Served on the Postdoctoral Association Executive Board to create a supporting atmosphere for all postdocs who train at NC State for 2-5 years.

Mentored 5 teams of 5 interdisciplinary undergraduate students in 6 month intervals to perform plasma medicine experiments consisting of cell culture, cell staining and imaging, plasma treatment and device development, colorimetric assays, data analysis and presentation for lab meetings and poster presentations.Co-organized the Drexel Engineering Leadership Transformation Academy, DELTA, 2-week summer program to reduce the education gap in STEM for incoming freshman from underrepresented backgrounds. Co-developed and led weekly, optional thermodynamics tutoring sessions for 300 students to enhance retention and improve student performance during my time as a teaching assistant. Received the 2018 DU Teaching Excellence Award and MEM Outstanding TA Award.Fabricated gelatin-based scaffolds and cultured cancer cells on them to measure the depth of cellular responses (flow cytometry and epifluorescent imaging) to non-thermal plasma treatment in a 3-D environment. Modified thiol compounds via plasma treatment to stabilize and transport nitric oxide for bacterial inactivation in solutions of high organic content. Discharged plasma through packaging material to delay mold growth on pre-inoculated bread. Exposed antibody resistant E.coli to plasma-treated droplets and measured growth inhibition.

Laboratory technician in a translational lab focused on neuroblastoma therapies. Following the injection of neuroblastoma cells into animals, two therapies are considered. One uses a novel drug to understand the effects of the drugs on the neuroblastoma cell lines. The other uses alpha emitting particles tagged on enzymes to be absorbed by the cancer cells, inducing cell death in the process. Analysis of microarray data through IPA showed potential drug targets for viable combinations with Selinexor, an XPO1 inhibitor.

A GSRA position, part of Dr. John Foster's PSTL, focused on discharge characteristics of an atmospheric pressure plasma jet used for biomedical applications. The plasma discharge treats mammalian cancer cells to understand the change within the cell, via nanoparticles in the vesicles, due to the treatment duration. The plume is characterized by absorption spectroscopy and microwave interferometry. Future work will be to discern what the surface properties of the cell membrane are before, during and post treatment.

• Hired onto STM by Johns Hopkins senior design advisor. Senior Design Project, Johns Hopkins University Sept 2009 - May 2010• Designed a circumcision device, to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. • Interacted with different companies to create both metal and ABS rapid prototype iterations.• Learned SolidWorks to continue design on the circumcision device. • Presented the company and goals for the project through several business presentations to both technical and public service audiences. • Collaborated with industry to design the device for optimum cost and manufacturability. • Responsible for creation and development of all prototypes.• Documented procedure descriptions and detailed technical drawings for patent applications. • Conducted on-site visits to companies to determine quality of service for producing prototypes.

A summer internship involving the basics of lab equipment and programming techniques through MATLAB graphical user interfaces. Several plasma projects involving the use of vacuum technologies. Updated the Xenon Recovery System at Michigan's PEPL laboratory with better piping and a solenoid valve.

Worked with COMSOL Multiphysics to create a preliminary testing environment for a melanoma detector By modeling a small lesion in COMSOL, we were able to simulate how the lesion would interact with cold gas and how the heat transfer underneath the surface of the skin would be an early indicator of melanoma.
