Piet Stinissen is professor of immunology and prodean at the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences at Hasselt University. His scientific interest is focused on autoimmunity / multiple sclerosis and healthcare innovation. He was dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences from 2009 until 2022. From 2000 until 2009 he was director of the Biomedical Research Institute (BIOMED) at Hasselt University. Currently, he is director of the Limburg Clinical Research Center (lcrc.be), a collaboration between UHasselt and the hospitals ZOL (Genk, B) and Jessa (Hasselt, B). He is also co-chair of the University MS Center UHasselt-Pelt (umsc.be) and chair of the task force Health Campus Diepenbeek (collaboration UHasselt - POM Limburg) (healthcampus.be).In september 2022 he became chairman of the hospital network andreaz (4 hospitals in province of Limburg, Belgium).He is actively involved as board member and/or cofounder of several organisations that support life sciences and healthcare innovation: incubation center BioVille, Euregional platform Biomedica, Happy Aging living lab, LifeTechValley, Hospilim, In4Care and CELL (centrum eerstelijn Limburg).
