Maria del Pilar Luna Berlioz, (Pili Luna)—designer, photographer, environmentalist.She is the creator of the brand “Vos Honduras” and “Pili Luna”. A brand whose purpose is to create awareness, include and transform, through design and innovation as tools for sustainable socioeconomic development.Pili Luna engages multiple key partners to create a scalable, profitable, and high-impact business model. We receive funding from international development organizations to teach women from indigenous communities around the region to produce fish leather that is up to our quality standards. To supply these communities with fish skin, we partner with fish product companies who need to dispose of the discarded fish skin from their facilities. The indigenous female artisans purchase this fish skin at a reasonable price, turn it into leather, and sell the finished product back to Pili Luna with a 45% profit margin. Pili Luna then sells the leather at a premium to customers who are interested in sourcing sustainably-produced and socially-impactful materials.Her vision has shoed for more than 25,000 Honduran children. She has transformed tons of waste into useful products, and her projects have trained young people with special challenges through creative workshops.She has participated in entrepreneurship conferences throughout Honduras and has stood out internationally, including a selection of her work at the Ibero-American Design Biennial, Madrid 2018. She received the Gemas 2020 Environmental Award as "Green Company". Second Place LEADS Woman of INCAE Business School 2021, First Place Gemas Environmental Award "Green Company" 2021. She was invited by the Vice President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris to a Roundtable of Women Leaders during the Summit of the Americas, 2022.
