Pinar Yildirim researches online platforms, media & entertainment, technology, political communication, luxury branding. She is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School and Economics at the Department of Economics at University of Pennsylvania. She is a fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research, an affiliate of the Carey Law School's CTIC, and a senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. She was a visiting Assistant Professor at Stanford's Graduate School of Business and Yale School of Management. Pinar focuses on applied theory and applied economics of online platforms, advertising, networks, media, and politics. Her research appeared in leading management and marketing journals including the American Economic Review, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Management Science, and Journal of Marketing. She has received various grants and honors, including the Erin Anderson Award for Emerging Mentor and Scholar from the American Marketing Association; the Scholar and the Young Scholar Awards from the Marketing Science Institute; and the Seenu Srinivasan Award in Quantitative Methodology from the American Marketing Association. She received multiple teaching excellence awards at the Wharton School. She appeared in media outlets including CNN, WSJ, NPR, Forbes, Politico, Vox, San Francisco Chronicle and outlets around the world and is an Associate Editor for Marketing Science. She is a frequent contributor to Knowledge@Wharton and Sirius XM Business Radio.Pinar collaborates with large and small firms for research, and advises startups. She holds PhD degrees in marketing and business economics and engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. She teaches in the executive education and MB programs at Wharton.
