Group Leader- Hydrogen And Electrification-2

Current

Lemont, Il, Us

• Evaluate technology economics and environmental impact by process modeling, technoeconomic analysis and life cycle analysis.• Model and analyze industrial production processes and manufacture processes (e.g. refineries, steel plants, chemical plants, etc), identify decarbonization opportunities, analyze decarbonization potential and estimate decarbonization cost.

Aug 2023 - Present

Principal Fuels Production Life Cycle Analyst

Lemont, Il, Us

• Lead various project to conduct techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle analysis for CO2 capture and utilization, the production of electro fuels, low carbon fuels and chemicals, low carbon hydrogen, etc. The process economics were evaluated by considering the impact of various potential tax credits, e.g. IRA. lead analysis of industrial decarbonization by using low carbon fuels, low carbon feedstock, and CO2 capture and storage. Estimated the decarbonization potential and cost for U.S. refinery sector and iron/steel sector. • Contribute to the H2@ project to evaluate the potential hydrogen demand from all industrial applications and derive target hydrogen price to make products competitive with market price. • Lead Argonne effort to work with DOE, US CAR Fuels Working Group (FWG) and other laboratories to assess the well-to-wheel GHG emissions by producing and utilizing the bio-blended high octane gasolines in advanced engines. Worked with sponsors, industrial partners (oil and auto industry), and other national lab researchers for project initiation and progress. Document a thorough in-depth WTW analysis report (Over 500 pages), published in DOE EERE website.Leading the project of accessing WTW criteria air pollutant (CAP) emissions for transportation fuels (H2, gasoline, diesel, LPG) emissions based on national inventory for U.S. refineries and steam methane reforming units.• Work on the refinery water consumption project to identify water consumption for refineries with various complexity, based on unit demand.

Research Engineer

Phillips 66 (Spunoff Of Conocophillips In 2012)

• Researched on converting refinery light ends to low vapor pressure and high octane gasoline fuels to meet government regulations for transportation fuels• Researched on evolution of energy landscape (crude sources, chemical additives, etc.) and projected its impacts on refining business• Acquired broad knowledge of refining process e.g. FCC, hydrotreating, coking, and process optimization
