Professor II at Oslo University College, 2010-13. Chair of Excellence, UC3M, Madrid 2012. Research: Interactive IR; Evaluation methods for IR; Informetrics-Scientometrics & Webometrics. He organized the 1992 ACM-SIGIR Conference in Denmark and served as PC Chair 1995 and 2000. He co-initiated the CoLIS conferences and chaired its 2nd meeting (1996) and organized with Kalervo Jarvelin the SIGIR Workshop IR in Context (2004 & 05), which extended into the 1st International Symposium on Information Interaction in Context (IiiX), co-Chaired by Peter in 2006. He has served as invited lecturer and key-note at many doctoral fora, including ISSI, LIDA and CoLIS conferences, as well as ESSIR and NORSLIS research schools 1998-2009. He has published several highly cited research monographs, and more than 100 journal articles and conference papers, in addition to editing work. Among his academic awards are the ASIS&T Distinguished Research Award in 2003 and the Derek de Solla Price Medal for his informetric and webometric research awarded 2005 by the International Society of Scientometrics and Informetrics. In 2007 he received the ASIS&T Best Teacher Award of Information Science and in 2009 the Los Angeles ASIST Chapter’s CISTA Award for continued contributions to Information Science.
