I am responsible for growing the API (Enterprise) business of Google Maps Platform. Also responsible for the 'Quality' of the product, answering the question - does the Maps product enable the business use case of Google Maps's developers? I lead a small team to improve the Data Quality, Algorithmic Quality and Implementation of major developers. In addition, I lead Google's efforts to enable landmarks as parts of addressing (relative addressing) to make the product more usable in countries like India. I work on User Engagement for Instagram and help understand how users use our products and how we can make them better. This involves understanding a wide ranging set of variables and products. I am also responsible for understanding the overall ecosystem of Instagram and responsible for identifying the levers which we can employ to improve their experience. I use a variety of techniques ranging from simple classification, clustering to complex systemic analysis to get at the understanding of our overall ecosystem. This helps drive our future product and generate the vocabulary in light of which we view our products and measure their success or failure.

I have worked on several teams at Facebook in various capacities - User Engagement/ Facebook Ecosystem - Understanding various movers and shakers of Facebook's core business. Helping Facebook understand the drivers of its key metrics such as Time Spent on the site, Content Produced and User interaction. Analyzing Time Series and systemic level variables. Inventing Company level metrics (3 at last count), which help drive decision making and are the key variables tracked at the company level. - User Sentiment - Tracking how people feel about their usage of Facebook. Understanding the drivers of such sentiment and the value and downstream impact of maintaining/losing such sentiment. Extensive amount of Survey based analysis was required in this capacity. - Profile Completeness - Understanding why people share their information with Facebook and how we can use products and tools to express the value proposition to get more complete and accurate information on the platform.

- Simulation of Mitochondrial Dynamics - Simulation of non- interacting complex particles (mitochondria), moving in two dimensions with persistent diffusion. Simulation work done in C++.- Sequencing of Mitochondrial DNA from Yeast cells - Exploring the role of mitochondrial DNA on overall mitochondrial health. Identified previously unknown open reading frames through high throughput shotgun sequencing on the Illumina platform.- Protein Bioinformatics - Created a Local Amino Acid Structural Similarity Index (LAASSI) from data from the Protein Data Bank. LAASSI complements the standard BLOSUM matrix and helps predict structural similarity based on sequence.

- Data Analysis - Analyzed very large datasets from the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO), looking for signals from neutron stars. Data was analyzed on large grid computers (8000 nodes) calculating both Frequentist and Bayesian statistics.- Wrote open source analysis tools, which were curated and managed as an analysis library. Shared this code with other researchers over github and underwent multiple code reviews. - Astrowatch - Lead a team of eight graduate students to operate a LIGO detector. Managed shifts, data quality and performed regular maintenance on the detectors.
