Was born in New Zealand moved to Sydney, Australia and worked there and now works and lives in Manila, Philippines. A retired sprinter that ran for 15 years he competesd at the Philippine National Championships for having a Filipino lineage from his mother. Started competing in the PHI NCAA, Weekly relays, Asian Grand Prix and other meets for 12 years and was a former member of the national training pool.Formerly a Mapua Computer science student, he earned a bachelor in International Relations and International Business in 2007 from International Pacific College in New Zealand.Pirie is widely known throughout the Philippine Athletics community for his advocacy and many contributions, He helped coach athletes, he is the former co-author of pinoymiler, is currently the primary Athletics statistician in the Philippines and he was a key organizer in contacting and recruiting athletes for the ‘Hypersports Team’ for the National Games (2012) and helped recruit athletes for the 'Run for Change Team' in 2013 and co-managed Airforce Team in 2014, as well as choosing and assistant manager of the ASEAN School Games team in 2014 (Philippines Under 18). As well as advisory regarding selection matters for SEA Games.He also was instrumental in helping coordinate and plan the 2014 PSC-PATAFA Weekly relays, introducing the Invitational A races and bring in reforms to improve the event from its dismal performance in 2013. 2014 saw massive upturn with 2500 athletes and pinoyathletics.info was very proud to cover and provide valuable information to the athletic community during these times.Also in Australia he was the general secretary and recruitment officer for the UNSW Athletic club in Australia. As well as helping the PATAFA identify and recruit athletes such as multiple SEA Games Gold Medalist Eric Cray. He also helped bring in Fair Selection to PATAFA using data by in part to select training pools and SEA Games teams.
