I grew up in Invercargill, Southland NZ and attended James Hargest College and graduated from the University of Otago with a double degree in Law and Arts majoring in Communication. Following my admission to practice law in Invercargill, I practiced in Melbourne and Sydney specialising in family law and associated private client matters. In 2019, I returned to Walker Murdoch Law where I had first worked as an office junior, a law clerk and later, a graduate lawyer. In 2021, I joined the Directorship and became a shareholder. I am a Court Appointed Lawyer for Child and act for children in parenting disputes to ensure they have a voice. I am passionate about the delivery of sustainable long-term outcomes to disputes, especially those that arise from relationship breakdowns. I believe in applying a costs sensitive approach and the importance of having a "big picture" outlook when navigating disputes involving children. I have acted in a variety of matters including complex financial matters involving corporate entities, third party intervenors, disputed valuation matters and matters involving complex trust structures. I enjoy the challenges of the varying nature of client’s financial arrangements. Many of these have required strong advocacy in a Court setting. I have appeared in the District, Family and High Court of New Zealand. I believe that litigation in some matters is unavoidable, but where possible, prevention is better than cure. As such, I provide clients with advice in relation to asset protection and estate structuring and encourage and provide a range of alternate dispute resolution including collaborative practice and mediation. In Melbourne, I held the Executive Committee Role as the Vice President of the Victorian Association of Collaborative Professionals having successfully completed my collaborative training in 2018. In 2020, I completed my Level 2, New Zealand Certificate of Te Reo Maori through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.From 2020 to 2022, I held the role of Chair of the Executive Committee for Collaborative Resolution New Zealand which campaigns for resolving family law matters in a collaborative way for the benefit of families and outside of Court. In 2022, I became a Director of Habitat for Humanity and now sit on both Invercargill and Dunedin Boards. Outside of the office, I enjoy a great variety of outdoor pursuits including trail running and adventures in the bush. I love my family, travel, kai and the arts.
