Often taking items apart and putting it back together again just to work out how it worked. This developed a self-taught knowledge of engineering to the point where I was swapping engines on a N Reg ford fiesta with zero assistance outside my parent’s house at the age of 20.With the drive to want to learn more I applied for a PSV mechanical Engineering Technician Apprenticeship so I could pursue a career in Engineering. After 2 years, I’d completed my apprenticeship and was doing many tasks alone, still driving to better myself. By the 3-year point, I was one of the leading mechanical engineers teaching and leading the junior Apprentice on many tasks.Wanting to gain further Engineering knowledge, after 5 years as a PSV Mechanical Engineer, I applied to be a Marine Engineer Engineering Technician in the Royal Navy. Getting my head back into the books again to broaden my engineering skills further. After a year studying, I was placed on my first ship where I had a key role in the smooth running of the ship whilst on operations. After just over a year on the ship I found myself taking leadership of a team of engineers, maintaining vital equipment to ensure the ship can remain at sea. These would include the High-Pressure Saltwater Ring-main, Low Pressure Saltwater Ring-main, Chloropac System, Sewage Collect and Hold System and the Waste Shredding System.As I approach my time served in the military, I would love to broaden my knowledge further again and step into the up and coming ‘green energy’ with the view to work on windfarms and adapt my engineering skills there.This is where I start my journey as a Wind Turbine Technician for Boston Energy. Boston Energy trained me to the required level to become basic technician, using previous experience and knowledge I fast achieved the title CT or Competent Technician. Working alongside SGRE Technicians we successfully service, repair and maintain a wide variety of onshore platforms, primarily 3.3MW mk1 DD and 4.3MW mk2 DD.
