The professional journey that began in 1969 culminated on July 31, 2014. The period of 45 years was utilized for acquiring agricultural engineering education in the best of the institutions, i.e., GBPUA&T, Pantnagar, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada and Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA. I subsequently took up post-doctoral research associate ship at North Carolina State University, Raleigh. An agricultural engineer to the core, I specialized in controlled environment agriculture. My other interests have been post harvest technology, renewable energy systems, and precision agriculture. I began my career in India as Associate Professor at Gujarat Agricultural University, Junagadh in Sept. 1980. I moved to Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering Bhopal in Dec. 1981 as Senior Scientist and then to Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi in March 1985 as Scientist S-3. At IARI, I was a researcher, teacher, research guide, and a research manager. I had the satisfaction of developing appropriate greenhouse technology for Indian conditions bringing Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award of ICAR as recognition. I introduced two new courses for agricultural engineering students at IARI and guided eight students (six doctoral and two masters). I also have the satisfaction of establishing the first National Phytotron Facility at IARI and making it functional.I moved to ICAR Head Quarter as Assistant Director General (PE) in Jan. 2003 where I provided leadership to the post harvest and value addition programmes of the Council. I got the first ever country-wide study of post harvest losses initiated and was associated actively during the course of the study. I came back to CIAE, Bhopal as Director on Sept 11, 2009 to provide benevolent leadership and take CIAE programmes to the stakeholders. I succeeded in initiating post graduate education programme t CIAE from the academic session of 2014-15.
