BetterSaver’s online KiwiSaver finder tool asks participants about their timeframe, goal, investment knowledge and ethics, then offers to switch them to a more suitable KiwiSaver fund. Previous attempts to improve conversions could be overcomplicated and have the opposite effect. Improvements to the visual design and UX writing were proposed, resisting the urge to make changes beyond this already broad line of enquiry. Validating the impact of any changes was essential before iterating further.Conducted a brand audit to explore potential visual brand and UI crossovers, then elevate both above the user expectations of this sophisticated and security-driven space. This included people-centric photography, icons, other graphical brand elements, a fixed colour palette and a new typeface. Designed and developed a new website that demonstrates this work.UX design had commenced on the user account dashboard and other confidential features, but this role ended abruptly due to the business encountering funding issues.

Promptly introduced content-rich, responsive landing pages to the legacy e-commerce CMS. A simple HTML framework was then created to expedite landing page production. This was forward-compatible with the Craft CMS site that followed in 2018. Built for ease-of-use, the CMS vastly reduced the dependency on developers to create or update landing pages.Pioneered numerous Javascript-based UI enhancements, adding features such as a mobile nav and sale graphics on individual items. They also enabled the then $66m/year online store to rapidly resume partial trading of essential items shortly after the COVID-19 lockdown commenced.

Designed the digitisation of services centering on an all-new mobile app for the trade division of hardware retailer PlaceMakers. The aim was to make creating, updating and tracking orders easier for their trade account customers, migrate all parties away from paper-based systems, and reduce burdens on the trade reps, call-centre and yards.The prototype passed multiple rounds of user-testing and was outsourced to an external supplier for final UI design and development. The app went on to generate $1m in revenue within 60 days of release, and won four Best Awards in 2020, including three in various user experience categories.
