I am presently working as a structural engineer who is responsible for the structural audit of various buildings. My job responsibilities are as follows-- To conduct civil and structural inspections/audit that need to be carried out for buildings/structures.- To access the overall condition of the buildings/structures and propose necessary repairs for the same.- Checking and overseeing the building drawings provided by the client to understand the load path and for calculations of load analysis of different members.- To conduct Non-destructive tests for examining the health of the concrete and the probability of corrosion in reinforcements. - Preparation of reports which are backed by Non-destructive test results that provide with all the retrofitting details and repair techniques.

A Civil Engineer graduate acting as the main Site Engineer on a construction site and responsible for the following activities.- Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.- Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per engineering drawing specifications.- Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials at plant.- Agreeing a price for materials, and making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project.- Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect.- Liaising with consultants, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.- Liaising with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws.- Close interactions and follow-ups with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress.- Planning the work and efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.- Quality control, health and safety matters on site should be closely monitored. - Preparing Joint Measurement Record (JMR), Daily Progress Report (DPR), Monthly Progress Report (MPR), etc.- Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
