I am a researcher and illustrator specialising in participatory and community-embedded inquiry. I have an academic background in gender and LGBTQIA+ rights, violence, labour, housing and health. My current work revolves around health and social equity and care, especially at the intersection of gender/sexuality, housing and technology – with an increasing focus on the latter. I also have 10 years’ third sector experience in research, campaigns and evaluation. This work focused on addressing issues around child rights, sexual and reproductive rights, mental health and social justice. I am an activist committed to delivering research and evaluation that will help bring about tangible change.Moving forward, I am interested in doing work that explores: participatory and co-design principles for critical mental health and social care research, particularly in the context of big data and new technologies; how violence against minoritised and marginalised people operates at direct, cultural and structural levels in the care ecosystem; the relationship between care labour and wellbeing, especially for trauma survivors; and the role of law and policy in addressing health and social inequalities broadly. My research is interdisciplinary, spanning public health, medical sociology, social care, political economy, community psychology, and queer and feminist theory. I work with both qualitative and quantitative data, though with an emphasis on the former, drawing on feminist methodologies, ethnographic methods, grounded theory and Q-methodology. I am passionate about making sure community-embedded, survivor- and user-led research and evaluation is supported, funded and prioritised within academia, policy and beyond.
