Boatswain's Mates (BM) train, direct, and supervise personnel in ship's maintenance duties in all activities relating to marlinspike, deck, boat seamanship, painting, upkeep of ship's external structure, rigging, deck equipment, and boats. BM's also operate and maintain equipment used in loading and unloading cargo, ammunition, fuel, and general stores. As a Force Protection Team Leader aboard an Ammo ship I was in charge of the Reaction Force as well as the Armory. I was trained to lead a Team of 8 into a close quarter combat situations to secure any threat. I was assigned to clear and sweep the ship as well as all the ammo & cargo hold during all security situations. Tactical and Small Armed Trained with 9MM, M14, Shotgun. and Modern Maritime Security procedures.Search & Rescue Swimmers rescue any of the aircraft that may go down during ship operations and maintains all of the rescue gear that is on the ship. My training consists of hands on experience in First Aid, CPR, Rescue Equipment, Waterborne Lifesaving Techniques, Day/Night Water Entries, Parachute Disentanglement, Search and Rescue Tactics, Inanimate Object Recovery, Night and Multiple Rescue Situations, and Motor Whaleboat/Rescue boat/Focsle operations.
