As manager of the Managing Authority of the PEACE IV, INTERREG VA and PEACEPLUS programmes, I was responsible for:• Ensuring the programmes are run effectively, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory requirements;• Managing reporting to programme stakeholders, including the European Commission;• Ensuring systems are in place to monitor, measure and evaluate the programmes delivery and impact;• Leading SEUPB’s response to audit findings;• Line-managing a hybrid-working team;• Ensuring SEUPB’s anti-fraud procedures are robust, and any suspicions of fraud are fully investigated and reported.

- Responsible for the smooth administration of the PEACE IV and INTERREG VA programmes. Tasks included: preparing committee meetings; managing contracts with external providers, including external evaluators; designing new process and delivery arrangements for the new PEACEPLUS programme.

Contracted to conduct a socio-economic territorial analysis of regions bordering the European Union. The resulting position paper was used for the European Commission to inform the establishment of the NDICI programmes.

Norwich, United Kingdom

As a Finance and Appraisal Officer for the INTERREGVA France (Channel) England Programme, my main responsibilities were the appraisal of projects submitted to the Programme, monitoring approved projects, monitoring the Programme's budget, and coordinating the submission of claims to the European Commission.In addition to this, I also led the development of the Programme's targeted project scheme. This involved planning the Programme's tidal energy targeted project, and working with French and UK tourism stakeholders to promote out-of-season tourism across the Channel.I also managed the external contract to evaluate the Programme.

Bilbao Area, Spain

I was one of two staff members in an ICTs for health research team responsible for developing project ideas and leading bids for funding from EU and other international funding schemes. My main tasks included: identifying calls; contacting organisations from across Europe to build project partnerships; leading and attending physical and online meetings with partner organisations to develop project ideas; writing co-authored applications with organisations from across Europe; providing engineering members of the research team with information about EU funding opportunities.

Working From Home

While writing my master thesis, I worked from home one day a week, as the assistant to the National Trust’s European Grants Officer.The role's main focus was in early-stage development of future EU projects. This included matching planned projects at the charity’s heritage properties with EU funding opportunities; identifying possible partner organisations; evaluating the likelihood of a successful application; and presenting my findings to the properties.

Rouen Area, France

As part of the History and International Relations Research Master, I worked as an intern at the Joint Secretariat of the INTERREGIVA France (Channel) England Programme, responsible for investing in cooperation between the north of France and the south of England. The role included a wide range of tasks including: conducting research into cooperation between England and France, assisting with appraisal of funding applications, financial monitoring of projects, helping to organise a Capitalisation seminar with regional stakeholders, and proof-reading programme literature. The working language of the Joint Secretariat was French.
