With a 20+ year background in architecture, design and experiential research, I have served in a broad range of roles, from university professor, architectural and interior designer, to design strategist and project manager. I utilize a variety of design research methods to help students, clients and project teams better their experience through the design of spaces, educational curriculum and program development.Wicked Workshop is a maker-oriented experience that introduces youth to the building blocks of architecture through decision-making strategies, complex problem solving, and critical thinking methods recognized as vital 21st century skills necessary to succeed in work, life and citizenship. Our straightforward hands-on curriculum is based on authentic, reality-based projects that foster independent thinking, self-directed learning, exploration, iteration and creativity. I strive to cultivate collaboration and civic awareness through our mentors at the University of Texas School of Architecture and the Austin Center for Design (AC4D) who are themselves working on “wicked problems” such as environmental degradation and homelessness. Wicked Workshop has a firm goal to seek opportunities that interact directly with the local community to promote positive experiences.
