Oversees activities of the circulation desk, including: the check-in and check-out of library and OhioLINK materials, answering phone calls, updating patron records, and collecting / resolving fines. Serves as a waypoint between community members and other building staff members. Must be able to multitask with many interruptions. Maintain a set weekly schedule including weekend or late night shifts as assigned. Serve as a substitute for other student circulation assistants as needed.Assists with stack maintenance; including shelving, shelf reading, shifting, searching for missing items, and inventory as assigned.Call patrons to the circulation desk that have set off the security alarm, and resolve why the alarm has gone off. Responsible for maintaining an appropriate sound level in building. Monitors building and reports security infractions/problems and/or building maintenance issues to appropriate university and library officials.Be proficient in using, instructing, and troubleshooting problems with camcorders, cameras, audio recorders, DVD/VCR combos, data projectors, and other rented equipment. Must have the ability to use and instruct patrons in how to laminate, use the Ellison Press machine, and the binding machine.Be a representative of the library and university when working with patrons by phone and in person. Exercise discretion, judgment, and provide clear guidance to library customers in enforcing library policies and procedures. Have access to and keep personal customer information confidential, such as names, addresses, student ID numbers, etc.Work as a member of the Circulation team. Resolve and/or reports problems encountered to circulation supervisors, Graduate Assistant, and Reference Librarian on duty. Maintain open lines of communication with circulation team, director, and other library employees. Assist in library-wide projects as assigned.
