OVERVIEW:I was brought on board to refine and execute strategy, operations leadership, and public policy initiatives for a non-profit organization providing high-quality research and working to improve the treatment of mental illness in the State of Texas. My primary focus and challenge centered on transitioning the organization from a start-up entity to an established leader in behavioral health systems transformation throughout Texas. As such, I acted as one of the Institute’s primary advocates and spokespersons with stakeholders, donors and the general public.I am in charge of creating and executing resource development, staffing, and financial plans, implementing communication and messaging strategies, and overseeing all governance processes (including developing the Board of Directors, ensuring contract and grant compliance, and assessing/mitigating risks). Additionally, I manage consulting contracts across core functional areas such as Policy, HR, marketing, PR, legal, and multiple others.HIGHLIGHTS:★ Played instrumental role in building capacity for a start-up organization, including hiring of staff members and development of Finance, HR, IT, Legal and Communications systems/processes.★ Partnered with the CEO to conceptualize and build an effective Board of Directors and process.★ Paved the way for engagement with over 12 cities throughout the State of Texas by serving as advocate of the Institute’s local systems transformation strategy.★ Created the legislative and philanthropic strategy to gain interest and achieve buy-in from academic medical research institutions in improving community behavioral health outcomes.★ Championed and spearheaded resource development/engagement activities, with a focus on fostering sustainable relationships with corporations, foundations, and individual donors.

OVERVIEWI directed all international, federal, state, and local government relations, stakeholder management, enterprise communications, media relations, and Board of Directors support as the member of the Airport Executive Team for the world’s 3rd most-trafficked airport. In this position, I coordinated multiple inter-governmental relations activities with key airport owner cities, including bond and budget authorization, land development, and regulatory approval initiatives.Key challenges I faced in this role included the following: gaining traction, acceptance, and then prominence for DFW International Airport as a prime location for international air carriers; identifying and achieving favorable federal and state policies for aviation; and creating intrinsic value for Dallas and Fort Worth as well as improving collaboration between both cities.HIGHLIGHTS:★ Served as a key catalyst in building DFW’s portfolio to 58 non-stop destinations worldwide. Created game-changing “Connect The World” international outreach program that aligned Chambers of Commerce and Convention/Visitors Bureaus with DFW’s air service goals.★ Ensured continued growth of international open skies agreements and air carrier service goals by driving federal lobby team and trade association activities that led to 100+ open skies agreements.★ Increased the voice, presence, and public policy effectiveness of the airport industry. Provided expertise and leadership towards the development of the Gateway Airports Council (within the U.S. Travel Association) and the Texas Commercial Airports Association.★ Guided the Board of Directors and the owner cities of Dallas and Fort Worth in the search and selection of a new, highly-qualified General Counsel for the airport.★ Strengthened the reputation of DFW within surrounding communities through a multi-pronged strategy of executive communications, media relations, and community affairs activities.

OVERVIEWI was promoted to oversee government relations, philanthropy, and community affairs functions on an international scale as a member of the Strategy Leadership team. To this end, I conceptualized, defined, and executed the overarching, multi-pronged strategy to advance the company’s business, public policy, and reputation building goals. A key focus area was to expand the company’s customer relationships, international influence and image within rapidly changing global markets. This required a combination of strategy outlining, team building, and deft execution that took into consideration global protocols and business practices.HIGHLIGHTS:★ Enabled a multibillion-dollar investment in advanced technology manufacturing capacity by leading site selection teams and negotiating economic development incentives, including a 9-figure state investment in the University of Texas at Dallas for a wafer fabrication project.★ Played key role in enabling growth in international markets.
