I am a tax controversy and tax litigation attorney based in Philadelphia, and the Chair of Chamberlain Hrdlicka's Tax Controversy Practice, one of the largest stand-alone tax controversy and tax litigation practices in the country. I represent clients in the Philadelphia region and nationwide ranging from Fortune 500 companies to privately held small and mid-size businesses, joint ventures and individuals. Over more than 40 years as a tax litigator, I have successfully litigated federal tax deficiency and tax refund cases in the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Courts and the Court of Federal Claims and argued appeals in multiple U.S. Circuit Courts. I also have resolved hundreds of other tax disputes at the administrative audit or appeals level for clients without having to resort to litigation. Early in my career, I served as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division, where I was honored with the Department's Outstanding Attorney Award. I am one of a select number of attorneys recognized by two preeminent lawyer ranking services, Chambers USA and the US Legal 500, as one of the nation's elite tax controversy practitioners. My range of trial experience, which includes dozens of jury and non-jury cases tried to judgment, encompasses a wide variety of complex and high-profile tax matters, a number of which have involved issues of first impression.
