As a hands-on leader for Noodle Search, hired a new team and migrated the architecture to Python, Apache Solr, and MongoDB, improving reliability and supporting a large increase in scale. Developed a management system for the data which Noodle licenses and scrapes using Python/Flask and MongoDB.Extended the Noodle Partners Python-based learning system to support universities offering tutoring services and online education. All systems at this "big data" startup run on AWS.

Hands-on technology leader for Kaplan's education partnerships, now owned by EverSpring. The system managed student admissions and online learning for masters degrees offered by partner universities including California State, George Washington, Adelaide, and Texas A&M, and colleges run by Kaplan Asia in Singapore and Hong Kong.Hired and managed the IT team, designed the database, and wrote system components. This team originated the use of AWS and open source software that was later deployed more widely at Kaplan.
