Leadership, support and guidance to the team of the Compliance and Facilitation Directorate, overseeing the activities and initiatives of the WCO in the area of streamlining trade procedures and efficient compliance with the trade regulations, development of relevant instruments and tools, fostering customs cooperation and capacity building

Leading a team of 85000 Tax Officials responsible for collection of Customs duties, Goods and Services Tax (GST) and other Indirect Taxes levied by Government of India; facilitation of trade and enforcement of allied laws for effective Border Management.Formulation of policy, legislation and, procedures, financial and human resource planning, capacity building and automation for Customs and GST administration. As Vice Chair of WCO Asia Pacific region of WCO. I am looking into the Capacity building for developing and least developing countries, including small island economies, while implementing the policies and strategic goals of WCO.

As the head of Customs in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, I was responsible for the formulation of policies/ procedures for smooth clearance of handling of international cargo and passengers at over 300 customs stations across the country. The work included: -1. Modernizing the customs legal framework.2. Monitoring the implementation of trade facilitation reforms through the National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NCTF) and focusing on measures that significantly improved cargo evacuation time and reduced transaction cost.3. Progressing towards non-intrusive Border Management by leveraging modern technological tools, including Single Window, Paperless Procedures etc.effective enforcement and monitoring compliance of laws administered by customs

1. As Head of a major regional customs formation, I led initiatives for procedural simplification, better tax administration and revenue mobilisation. 2. Spear-headed various technology driven initiatives for efficient container monitoring, traffic management in the port and cargo security 3. Took measures to improve dispute resolution and speedy investigation of transfer pricing cases

1. Responsible for improving the enforcement and compliance capabilities of customs2. Enhanced the use of non intrusive inspection equipment for detection and combatting customs offences 3. Represented the Indian customs at Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Asia Pacific Group on money laundering (APG) and Protocol to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC)
