“Calm Sea’s Don’t Make Good Sailors”. This seems to have been my motto since being a teenager. And I think it’s fitting. Don’t expect success to be granted as the result of an easy path. There are the few, the “lucky” that very well may gain success the easy way. They are the exception, not the rule. Put in the hard work. Don’t cut corners. The sailor becomes the expert of the sea and ship not through calm waters. The rough waters are necessary to become a master sailor. As is life. Don’t expect something from nothing. Don’t wait for your “lucky break”. Go out and make it.
