This critical layer has beenknown about for some time, but only recently has it's behaviour beenproperly studied mathematically, and even then only for an implausibleconstant shear boundary layer. This work would investigate, using asimilar analytical approach, the behaviour of the critical layer for amore realistic parabolic boundary layer profile. In addition to theobvious benefits of a better understanding, this work could haveimplications for stability of flow over compliant surfaces. Show less
