About Donnie H.
I started my career almost two decades ago with a simple desire to make the web beautiful and easy to use. A little over 10 years ago, I pivoted from building applications with intuitive interfaces for desktop and mobile devices to growing teams of engineers who do the same.I have been a part of all sorts of teams! I’ve led large numbers of brilliant engineers (about 130 at my max) with vastly different skill-sets across many kinds of teams in rapidly changing development environments with very different business domains. I've also let small teams of 2-7 engineers as well! Some specialized teams, some full-stack blended teams with many different roles.All are welcome where I go. Inclusivity can be a big value of mine. I do my best to be an ally to many different kinds of people in different ways. I continue to work on staying informed on key topics around race, gender identity, and other tough subjects like this as I work and live. My story is long, and I can talk a lot! My career started way back when I was 15! 😅 Right now, my primary role is care taker of myself and my family.I'm finally ready to get back to work, though. I'm actively applying for jobs and seeking new opportunities.Make it a great day.

Mediation, Mindfulness Checkins, Potty Training, a few mentor/coaching calls with talented colleagues still in the field. Riding Bikes without Training Wheels. Helping with Homework... and tantrums. Lots of tough work and lots of good outcomes. Looking forward to getting back into the field. I could write flow charts for all the household chores like a CI/CD environment! When to start the dishwasher, when to start boiling potatoes in time for dinner (deployment)... run the laundry in parallel to the dishwasher (multiple test runs, in CI before deployment!). Communication and especially Patience with my family has only helped my EQ get stronger and stronger. I'm a better manager, leader, and ... all around person... for it. I'm more humble these days than I used to be. I'm no better than anyone else in the room. I used to think I was such a big shot! Then I had kids, and a marriage to nurture. It's really changed the way I see the world and myself.
