Charles Platkin, Ph.D., JD, MPH is a nutrition and public health advocate and health-tech innovator. Dr. Platkin is a Distinguished Lecturer at Hunter College and the founder and executive director of the Center for Food As Medicine and the former executive director and current chair of the board of advisors at the Hunter College NYC Food Policy Center. Dr. Platkin has founded several companies, including Diet Detective, a syndicated health, nutrition, and fitness column. DietDetective.com which appeared in more than 150 daily newspapers and media outlets, has more than 500 articles and interviews on nutrition, food, and fitness; Integrated Wellness Solutions (IWS) which worked to develop corporate wellness initiatives including online health tools, as well as print-related content to market health behavior change (e.g., BNSF Railroad, BCBS, United Healthcare, GM). IWS also worked with pharmaceutical companies (including Roche and Pfizer) creating digital strategies and tools to assist with patient behavior change. These programs included the first Registered Dietitian nutritional counseling via email. Dr. Platkin is also the co-founder of MedicalBx, a company that creates and delivers specialized-micro-hospitals to underserved countries with the goal of providing innovative medical solutions to minimize human suffering, and to enhance health equity and health justice Dr. Platkin is the author of seven books. Platkin is a co-founder and strategic adviser at Diversion Books (www.DiversionBooks.com), a leading book publisher and podcast company. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, a law degree from Fordham University, a Master of Public Health from Florida International University, and a Ph.D. from Florida International University.
