MWD technology was fairly new in the 80s, and allowed formation evaluation while drilling and horizontal drilling. While waiting out a hurricane on a drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico, I developed the first Formation Exposure Time Log. I worked on oil drilling rigs on land in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, California, and Pennsylvania, and offshore California, Louisiana, Texas, Scotland and Norway.
