My passion for engineering research comes from my 18 years of experience as a student being confronted by hard, difficult, and sometimes seemingly impossible problems to solve. From those problems, I have discovered my perseverance. My journey has led me to learn from and build on top of my educational experience, only to leverage my knowledge and persistence in a research/testing-based position. Not only do I have to wear my engineering hat to tackle new problems, but I’ve also learned important managerial skills that have helped me run multiple diverse programs simultaneously.As an engineer at Southwest Research Institute, I help create new test matrices, operate a wide variety of testing standards, and oversee both standard and bespoke testing that aims to meet client goals and budget requirements for both fuels and lubricants. My personal and professional experiences have taught me the following about myself:I educate, refine, and drive myself to become a better person- I am constantly learning new skills to not only deepen my knowledge of different engineering practices, but also help solve new complex unforeseen problems.- I stay calm when faced with adversity while managing multiple different programs at the same time.- I focus on making high quality decision and with collaborating with all stakeholders to obtain a wide array of inputs before doing so.I can align, lead, and grow teams to tackle an assortment of problems that arise when developing new test programs.- I love to solve problems, especially problems I’ve never seen before- I’ve become agile when it comes to program ending problems, learning how to face them while thinking outside the box to help address them.- I speak tech and exec I have not only enjoyed applying my engineering education to tackle new and exciting testing requirements of the evolving automotive industry, but also learning the ins and outs of project management in the process.
