My academic background includes architecture and master planning, and I have a Ph.D. with an urban design focus.I have wide-ranging professional experience in architecture and urban planning in a number of countries, including the UAE, UK, South Africa, China and Lebanon. During this time I have worked for as a design consultant (urban planning and architecture) and as client based design director and technical advisor, both in permanent and contract relationships. In my design director roles I have provided the technical knowledge and imagination necessary to instruct and guide local and international consultants to deliver project designs of all scales to successful completion.I was involved with Expo 2020 Dubai from 2015 to 2022, initially working with our planning consultants to refine and develop the master plan, both for the event and for District 2020 (now Expo City), and latterly helping to enhance the public realm from the visitors’ perspective.I am currently practicing as an independent consultant specialising in urban planning, urban design, placemaking, and architectural design.Specialties: Design management, urban planning, urban design, local area plans, action area plans, placemaking, development control, public realm design, development regulations and review process, architectural design.Full updated CV is available on request.
