I performed the administrative role for Health Service Provider (HSP) contract management at Fraser Health (i.e. external organizations paid to service Fraser Health clients). On a team of 5 clerks, we processed over 1,000 contracts per year, reconciled thousands of individual monthly invoices, and posted payments for contracts totalling >$600M. These contracts covered services in mental health, substance use, public health, home support, and residential care.

I worked with the team leading the complete structural, mechanical, and electrical refurbishment of two 30-year old coal stacker reclaimers (SR 300 & 301) at Ridley Terminals in Prince Rupert, BC. Having never worked in the mining and construction industry, I studied schematics and articles about stacker-reclaimers, learned the jargon and how they were built to be able to update progress in MS Project, and transcribe highly technical meetings minutes held between industry veterans and cross-discipline engineers. The respect I earned in this job remains a proud personal achievement.

Shortly after being hired, my department became responsible for Home Support billing data management. I confidently accepted the challenge of learning the process of extracting accurate and complete data using Procura -- a task which had previously belonged to (2) full-time employees. This coincided with Fraser Health’s transition to a new healthcare database (Paris), which required extensive procedural adaptation. As the only person in the department trained on both the Procura and Paris aspects of HS billing, I discovered and corrected several sources of error, trained my colleagues, and prepared a comprehensive written procedure manual.
