Homecare Homebase provides technology solutions to home health and hospice agencies, and in my current position I support and enhance the financial application used by back-office staff in those agencies. My recent focus has been Medicare billing and accounting -- making sure our customers can bill Medicare payors accurately and can report accurate revenue. This has kept my team quite busy in the last few years as there have been significant changes in the regulations, resulting in a complete redesign of our Medicare Home Health billing/revenue calculation processes. We moved logic into shared libraries and RESTful services, modernizing and improving the process.Prior to that I spent the better part of two years working on a small team that replaced an antiquated VB6 billing system with C# code, and a legacy database with a much better, more normalized database design that improved data integrity, auditing, security, and centralized the data access for these new tables to better ensure accuracy of our financial data.My focus for my first three years at HCHB was on enhancing and improving the payroll system, including our mileage calculator, but my projects also included work on the scheduling, attachment service, and worker management portions of the system.I occasionally have an opportunity to dabble in the clinical application. This has included building a service to provide patient outcome predictive modeling results.

I developed and enhanced applications for the Investments Division of AEGON, a financial services company. I gathered requirements, performed analysis and design, coding, unit and integration testing, and delivered high-quality results.Much of my time was spent developing new features for a Securities Pricing web application. The highlights: I eliminated multiple manual processes, automated accounting, and reduced the time required to complete the month-end closing process to a single day.Other projects included:• Building an Equity Hedge Modeling application that had me delving deeply into SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)• Enhancing a Dealer Inventory web application• Building and consuming WCF services as part of the division's march toward a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)

As a Top Technical Specialist, I provided analysis and application development for multiple departments within AEGON's Corporate and Information Technology divisions. I also provided consulting and mentoring to peers. These are some of my favorite projects:• Developed a web site for the Information Security Office that included an online Dashboard to report the current security status, and a workflow engine to manage security exceptions.• Created a set of automated interfaces to and from a vendor-hosted Travel and Expense system, allowing the company to streamline the expense reimbursement process.• Participated in the design and development of the Enterprise Customer Service intranet site, which provides hundreds of customer service representatives with the ability to view customer data consolidated from many administrative systems on diverse platforms.• Created enterprise-wide web-based applications for several departments, including the HR Training and Development group, Travel Services, and AEGON Information Technology, allowing those groups to communicate more effectively with their customers. Advanced content management features allowed end-user maintenance of content.

I was assigned to an application development pool of highly skilled developers known for bringing mission-critical projects to completion successfully and on time. I provided analysis, design, programming, and mentoring for client/server applications across the enterprise. I'm proudest of these accomplishments:• Participated in analysis and development of a system to manage agent compensation for multiple insurance companies within the corporation, making agent compensation a competitive advantage for AEGON.• Designed, developed, tested, and implemented a client/server system to provide add-on administration of variable annuities, replacing a manual process and an error-ridden Paradox database.• Served as the technical leader and developer on a project to create a short-term cash flow system, providing improved cash management and accounting for short-term investments and inter-company settlements.• Created a framework library of shareable, reusable objects for departmental use in developing new PowerBuilder applications, reducing development cycle and maintenance costs.

I designed and developed two essential systems for the Institutional Markets Division:• Client/server administrative system for Synthetic Guaranteed Investment Contracts, which allowed this new business to grow rapidly. Quickly gained expertise in object-oriented client/server development.• System to administer traditional Guaranteed Investment Contracts, providing improved administrative and marketing support for new products and business opportunities.I also helped define the department’s use of technologies, languages, and SDLC processes through participation in a Platform Advisory Group and a project to implement a systems development methodology, leading to more efficient and standardized development processes.
