Prof. Dr. Christian Plessl is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of High-Performance Computing (HPC). He holds a full professorship (W3) in the Department of Computer Science at Paderborn University and serves as the managing director of the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC²), a central scientific institute and national HPC center within the National High-Performance Computing (NHR) Alliance of Germany. He is also a founding member on the Board of Directory of the NHR Alliance.Prof. Plessl earned both his PhD and MSc degrees from ETH Zurich, specializing in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering, respectively. His research interests are centered on high-performance parallel and reconfigurable computing, with a focus on the architecture and tools for scientific computing, scalable algorithms and energy efficient computing systems. He has made significant contributions to his field, participating in numerous national and international research projects funded by organizations such as the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and the European Commission.With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, his work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including best paper awards at conferences such as FPL, ReConFig and HEART, and the Paderborn University Research Awards in 2009 and 2018. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the IEEE, ACM, and the HiPEAC Network of Excellence. He serves as member of the DFG review board for Computer Science.
