The leadership team made the determination that (1) we needed to reassess our values as part of strengthening our culture and (2) we wanted to build our new values based on input from employees. I led that effort for the leadership team and Daina volunteered her assistance (on top of her regular workload), which was a huge help. Daina helped prepare for a series of employee focus groups (gathering examples of values from other organizations to use as prompts) and helped analyze the feedback to assemble our values. The analysis included identifying themes from across the groups, distinguishing between core values and aspirational ones, and determining how to verbalize the selected values in a meaningful way. Daina's involvement was critical across all of these steps. Beyond that, Daina led the development of the core values beyond pithy statements to ensure that each had clear short and long description so all employees could understand and therefore live the values. Finally, she played an active role in the roll out of the values. We wanted to make the introduction fun and engaging for employees. But more than that, we wanted to weave the values into our culture so they would be more than a plaque on the wall. Daina was part of the task force which brainstormed ideas. Then she drove the launch of the values including ongoing efforts like Value Ambassadors, IMGiving, IMFit, and a feedback loop. Throughout the process, Daina listened intently, facilitated brainstorming, drove consensus, crafted content, developed programs, and (of course) lived the values. She was a pleasure to work with and she definitely made the process work more smoothly."
