I am a seasoned professional communicator with over 20 years of experience in training, education, and industry, where I help organizations analyze, strategize, communicate, and adapt to the dynamic needs of their audiences and stakeholders. I hold a Ph.D. in Communication Studies-Rhetoric and I am currently Professor of Communication at Grace College, where I teach online and in-person courses in communication theory and practice. My experience in research, education, and industry is based in the importance of message adaptation: of understanding people, culture, and situation, and making necessary communicative choices to effectively and purposefully share meaning to both specific and universal audiences. This success is rooted in a deep respect for individuals and their dynamic needs and wants, and has broad application to user experience, program development, brand management, and consulting.I have served on multiple strategic initiatives steering committees such as master planning, faculty governance, institutional review, and marketing campaigns. As a teacher and researcher, I specialize in applied communication and study the rhetorical arts and related fields, such as public relations, persuasion, political rhetoric, and user experience analysis. I also consult and write for public and private organizations in the communication and marketing arenas. In my free time, I build things out of wood, and I bike.
