Computer vision and machine learning specialist with 10+ years of experience on applied research projects. PhD from Polytechnique Montréal (University of Montréal), 2018, and postdoc from the Computer Research Institute of Montréal (CRIM). Currently working as a research scientist in the Safe AI for Humanity (SAIFH) team inside Mila.Previously focused on the intersection of deep learning and geoscience, now working on Safe AGI methodologies. Research interests include unsupervised learning, anomaly detection, generative models, and multimodal/multi-task learning.Recent personal realizations include AI applications in agriculture for crop disease and pest identification, in geology for mineral identification and prospectivity mapping, in remote sensing for multispectral image quality enhancements, and in hydrology for the delineation of waterways and lakes. Many of these realizations were part of collaborations with organizations including the University of Sherbrooke, Natural Resources Canada, the Geological Survey of Canada, and the Canadian Center for Mapping and Earth Observation.
